Rates and Sessions
Our rates for sessions have remained stable since January 2015 and are in keeping with other psychologists in the area. They were based upon how each session is coded according to the length of time and the purpose of the session, in accordance with 2013 CPT Codes for Psychologists. If your insurance plan requires that you pay a "co-payment" these fees most likely will not affect your cost by much.
Intake sessions last 60 minutes and have been charged at $240 for the session which includes the therapist's additional time to complete required legal and case-related paperwork.
Individual outpatient psychotherapy sessions will vary depending upon how long the sessions are: they may be 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes, and will be billed respectively. The majority of sessions are 45 to 50 minutes long and will remain at $150. Some insurance companies do not allow longer sessions, although that is changing soon.
Family and/or couples sessions will continue to be billed at $190 per session.
And finally, the new coding has a designated code for emergency sessions that start with billing for 60 minutes with adding on more time as needed to manage a crisis. My charge for that is $190 for the initial 60 minutes with additional charges if the session lasts another 30 minutes or more.
The cost of services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully with your health insurance provider prior to your appointment to find out what your plan offers. These are some of the typical questions that help to get the necessary answers to questions about coverage:
- Does my healthcare plan offer me mental health insurance benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- Do I have a co-payment or coinsurance portion that I am responsible for?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is couples therapy or family therapy covered in my plan?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician or the insurance company?
- Is this therapist considred in-network?

Cash and most major credit cards accepted for payment, but debit cards, checks, and health savings plan cards are preferred. Please bring exact payment if you are using cash. If we need to wait for your insurance to process your visits to determine the exact cost of sessions, you will receive a bill in the mail. You will also receive an explanation of benefits (EOB) from your insurer. Prompt payment is requested. You will be billed for any portion that is not paid at the time of the session and that is your responsibility. If your payments are late, there are additional service fees.
Once a person has become an established patient after the first session, it is then the patient's responsibility to let Dr. Boyle know if you cannot keep an appointment. You will need to let her know 24 hours before that papointment is scheduled. If your appointment is on a Monday, weekend days do not count. In part, this time is so that I can offer that open slot to another patient waiting for an opening. If you have an evening appointment, you will need to alert the office before closing time at 5 p.m. the day before your appointment. If you miss an appointment there will be a charge for that, just as there will be for cancelled appointments that are not cancelled with at least the 24 hour notice. This fee may be as high as the full price of the session, but this will be fully explained to you during your intake.Schedule an
